Bengougam is responsible for leading HR across EMEA, which includes more than 65,000 employees in 59 countries

Since joining the company in 2010 with an initial European remit, Bengougam has facilitated Hilton’s significant footprint growth and business success. He has executed on an ambitious strategy that delivered substantial and very positive outcomes in team member value proposition enhancements, engagement and trust, core talent acquisition, leadership development and retention improvements. He has since had his responsibilities widened to include the Middle East and Africa, and has built a world-class HR team to drive this agenda.

Key programmes launched during Bengougam’s time at Hilton include Careers@Hilton, now a global initiative, which educates potential talent on the many and varied career opportunities available in the hospitality sector. He is also extremely proud of the ground-breaking culture-shaping launch of Thrive@Hilton, which has significantly improved team member engagement, as shown by the many awards bestowed on Hilton by Great Places to Work, among others.

Bengougam is a BSc engineering science graduate and has also obtained a Master’s degree in HR development. He is a fellow of the Institute of Hospitality and a chartered fellow of the CIPD.

With almost 30 years’ experience in human resources, Bengougam has worked in a range of high-profile global and regional positions based in the US, Europe and the Middle East. Previous roles include EVP HR at Pegasus Solutions, chief people officer at Ebeon, and group human resources director at Dixons Group.

Earlier in his career he spent 11 years with Forte International Hotels in various operational and human resource management roles. His last role there was as human resources director for the Forte Grand division. Prior to this he built a solid career foundation in the hospitality sector in a variety of positions.

Bengougam speaks English, Arabic, French, Spanish and Italian. His main areas of interest are youth in hospitality, promoting diversity, organisational culture, personnel development, and HR practices in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
