Claire Thomas is senior vice president of HR for GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and a member of the corporate executive team, leading the global HR function for the company and responsible for its environmental sustainability strategy. She is voted one of the Most Influential HR Practitioners in the last decade.

Claire Thomas’s previous roles at GSK include HR SVP for Pharmaceuticals Europe, where she led the function through the merger with SmithKline Beecham. Prior to GSK, Thomas worked for Ford Motor Company, holding various HR leadership and organisational development positions. She holds a degree in economics, management and industrial relations from the University of Wales, has been a non-executive director of the Department of Energy & Climate Change, and was named an Outstanding European Woman of Achievement in 2007.

In an interview with The Telegraph she said she would be played in a film of her life by Chicken Ginger, from the film Chicken Run, saying she is an “unlikely but resourceful leader, on a mission and committed to saving her friends”.
